Elaine began a second career as a therapist after a successful career in law. She turned her focus and experience to helping individuals and families in a variety of settings as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Elaine has a commitment to addressing the issues of substance abuse and addiction in a meaningful and lasting way. She uses a combination of theories, but primarily uses cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques to assist clients. Elaine brings a warm and caring demeanor to her work as a therapist and uses a direct approach and gentle humor.
She has had much success in working with individuals struggling with anxiety and depression by utilizing cognitive behavioral and mindfulness therapies. She finds that this approach is also helpful in treating substance abuse and addiction. Elaine has completed training in Smart Recovery techniques and employed those techniques in her work as a therapist.
Often individuals struggling with addiction cannot see the possibilities for change in life. they feel stuck and helpless to move forward. Through the process of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy as well as mindfulness, the client can see other possibilities for life. The possibilities are endless.
